Pres­i­dent Obama’s push to post­pone the Feb­ru­ary 17 date for the end of ana­log NTSC broad­cast­ing has met an uncer­tain fate in the House. And that’s fine with me. I have many objec­tions to the federally-mandated switch to ATSC (digital-only) tele­vi­sion, but despite sev­eral exten­sions this dead­line has been in place for years. Unfor­tu­nately those who still don’t know about the tran­si­tion are prob­a­bly the same peo­ple who still receive ana­log over-the-air broadcasts.

I have many things to say about ana­log broad­cast­ing. Stay tuned, as they used to say, for more on this sub­ject between now and Feb­ru­ary 17.
