I saw a headline today: “[Attorneys General] want Bush administration to get tough on gas prices.”
Well, there is no good reason for our government to impose peacetime price controls on anything at all.
A corollary of this theory is that no one is entitled to cheap gasoline. To those who think that gas prices are unfair: start your own refinery. That’s how America works. And if the market ever becomes impossible to compete in, consumers must bear the blame for letting it get that way.
