Friday, February 4, 2005. 6:30 pm.
Don’t miss a special 50-minute performance in the Museum’s Theater of Electricity.
The high-energy premiere of ZAP!, a collaboration between the Boston Museum of Science & MIT graduate, Christine Southworth, featuring music by Ensemble Robot. The performance will take place in the Museum’s Theater of Electricity, featuring the world’s largest air-insulated Van de Graaff generator standing 40 feet high, producing up to 1.5 million volts of electricity. Composer and graphic designer with a degree in mathematics and music from MIT, Christine Southworth has composed music which will incorporate sparks and static from the Van de Graaff and surrounding Tesla coils, as well as amplified acoustic and electronic instruments played by Ensemble Robot and musicians: Ramon Castillo (conductor/music director), Akili Haynes (percussion/voice), Jeff Lieberman (guitar/keyboard), Sean Mannion (percussion), Blake Newman (bass), Erik Nugent (wind/voice), Sachi Sato (keyboard), Christine Southworth (sampler/voice), and Rebecca Zook (cello)…
