WGBH 89.7 just played a great record of Charlie Parker’s jazz ensemble performing live in the mid-1950′s. And at the end of the performance, a stereotypically stentorian filmstrip-narrator voice intoned, “We’ll see you again here next week, live in Kenmore Square, Boston.”
Wait a second… there was once some culture in Kenmore?
Yes, but I’m too late. The scene was in the decline by the late 1970′s, around the same time B.U. started moving in. Imagine if we could co-exist in time: B.B. King might be playing down the street from Cruftlabs.
