Last week I forked over $85 for a pair of J&G Cyclewear rain pants, since my old ones are worn and no longer waterproof. After today’s commute—my first time wearing them—I was going to write here about how awesome they are.
Instead, I hit a long trench-like pothole buried beneath the slush in Cambridge, skidded about 50 feet and flipped over. How fortunate that the patch of ground where my knee landed was BARE ASPHALT, for I now have a brand-new $85 pair of rain pants with a HUGE HOLE shredded through them. That really makes them useful doesn’t it.
I would like to send a special thank-you to the City of Cambridge (and the local utilities) for having the shittiest roads in the country.
