on the chopping block

Ilford has discontinued two very unique products: SFX 200 film and their B&W postcard paper. Rumor has it that PAN F 50 film is going to be next unless it starts selling better.

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, shoot more Ilford PAN F! This is one of the greatest films ever made. With the recent discontinuation of Kodak Technical Pan, this genre of what I call “tripod films” will be dead. Unlike most other industries, the production of photographic film is highly specialized and founded on trade secrets. So once a product is discontinued, it will never be possible for anyone to make it again.

This information is provided courtesy of Ilford’s Northeast sales manager, whose recent promotion from “Massachusetts” to “Northeast” was made possible by the laying-off of the representatives from every other state in New England.
