We went to the movies at Coolidge Cor­ner last night. “Wow, big crowd,” I remarked to the girl behind the counter. There were 3 other peo­ple in the theatre.

“Yeah, we like to think that our crowd isn’t the Super Bowl-watching type, but I guess we were mostly wrong,” she explained.

We saw Notes on a Scan­dal. It’s very good. Judi Dench puts on an incred­i­ble per­for­mance (although I could have done with­out see­ing her repos­ing in a bath­tub). The ter­rific Philip Glass sound­track nicely com­ple­ments the movie’s nar­ra­tive: sub­tle, creepy, and occa­sion­ally quite startling.
