i demand reliability

Last week, I plugged in the Dell computer I’m building up as a replacement server for my-computer. The power supply exploded, complete with sparks and smoke. My Alphastation (my-computer) has been running just fine for 8 years, but the Dell blows up within a month. Awesome.

A few days ago, the band on my wristwatch cut loose and fell off. Turns out the clasp is held onto the end of the band with a flap of leather that appears to be stitched, but is actually glued. The glue let go. Anyone know where to buy watch bands that aren’t made in China with fine Chinese cost-cutting measures?

Last night, I broke another spoke on the rear wheel of my commuting bike. That makes for three broken spokes in 2 months. Although I’ve put only about 4,500 miles on it, it seems I’m reaching the fatigue limits of the material. Time for new wheels. Meanwhile, I have to ride to work on my fixed-gear bike.

I demand more reliability from my stuff.
