The Boston Globe reports that nation­wide, the sec­ond most com­mon use of class­room Inter­net access is find­ing mate­r­ial for the cre­ation of slide show presentations.

Yeah, we’re talk­ing about everyone’s favorite, Microsoft Pow­er­Point.

Accord­ing to the Globe arti­cle, “Teach­ers say the Pow­er­Point pre­sen­ta­tions are supe­rior to the old-fashioned report in many ways. The assign­ments help stu­dents learn to syn­the­size large amounts of infor­ma­tion into a clear, con­cise format…”

When I was in fourth grade, we learned how to write clear, com­plete sen­tences. Now they’re learn­ing how to write bul­let points. I won­der how peo­ple will com­mu­ni­cate 20 years from now.
