beer review: narragansett

“Hi, neighbor, have a ‘Gansett!”

After a long hiatus that dates back to when this author’s primary means of locomotion was crawling, Narragansett Beer is back. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive, so on a recent trip to the Sunset Grill, I thought I’d give it a try.

“It’s famous!” offered the waiter. “It says so right on the can.”

Indeed it does. Narragansett is refreshingly drinkable, slightly sweet, perfectly carbonated, and completely lacking in aluminum aftertaste. Its brewers clearly took many cues from such other award-winning lagers as Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Narragansett comes in bottles or perfectly retro-styled 16-oz. cans that would look right at home in the cooler by the barbeque, in the cupholder of your truck, or smashed against your forehead. Start drinking it before the hipsters do!
