Fact #1. On NFL television broadcasts, the little box in the corner of the screen with the score, down, and yards is called a “Fox Box,” after the network that originated it.
Fact #1.5. This is also the term for the horizontal score and base-occupancy indicator in baseball broadcasts.
Fact #2. The “Fox Box” (on Fox and ESPN at least) is produced by an SGI O2 workstation. Or sometimes an SGI Onyx2. The game clock time is delivered over TCP/IP.
Fact #3. SGI workstations still rock.
