This morning, I noticed something was amiss at the Landmark Center Best Buy store. On the sidewalk out front was a painstakingly-constructed display of appliances, computers, and electronic gadgets on cloth-covered pedestals. The Best Buy logo had been carefully nestled among these. Facing this, in the parking lot: a firing line of ENG cameras on tripods. A number of press photographers milled about nearby. I biked right up to them and discovered, between the appliances and the cameras, a podium bearing the seal of the State of Massachusetts.
“What’s going on?” I inquired of a uniformed Best Buy employee, who had been fiddling excitedly with an obnoxious-looking digital camera.
“Governor Romney is going to speak here.”
“Mitt Romney is here?” I looked around, spotting only worker bees.
“Well, not yet.” He continued pushing buttons on his camera.
“What about?”
“I dunno.”
